The significant impact of #reading electronically versus physical #books is the subject of my #weekendread. The data gathered by this excellent author is alarming and also not surprising.

My #weekendread was this inessential retelling of the drama of OpenAI's early days. The insight into Altman and his motivations is limited. The #book feels like reading the news at the time, which many of us did. Thus, the book adds nothing new to the story.

My #weekendread was Scott Galloway's new book. It's a compilation of so many smart things he's said in the past on his various podcasts and in his blog. Galloway's vision of masculinity matches my own: providing, protection, and perseverance are all key.

Grant's Hidden Potential has been on the #weekendread list to read for a while. It tells some intriguing data points that inspire us to broader our perspective on how we can achieve.

Clearly Temu knows how much I love my #blackcat, but I do not want this.

Light reading for the #weekendread. For people who know his band, Evan Dando's autobiography is what you'd expect: lightweight, somewhat interesting, but mostly insufficiently deep. But I do enjoy reading about creative people's path to success (#AI won't give you that).

My #weekendread was a reaction to spending most of that week at #LATechWeek. I read about the history of paper in Papyrus, a thoughtful and intriguing exploration of the source of #books. The author takes us way back and right up to now. It's more exciting than you might expect.

My #weekendread, Dr. Ackerman's book argues for working with AI as a 'humble creative machine,' collaborating and keeping your focus on human values. She makes her argument with science, stories, and her own deep experience as a pioneer in the AI space.

My #weekendread was all about keeping business fluid and in motion. I'm an idea person as it is, but I liked the discipline around these concepts and how they line up with my training at The Walt Disney Company. Ideas and energy drive me forward.

Another brief #weekendread getaway to refresh, this #book about indie rock in the 2000s filled in a lot of gaps for me at a time when I wasn't listening closely enough after the post-Nirvana #music slump. A thorough and enjoyable history book.

My #weekendread engaged my #data love and #gamification brain, too. Spiegelhalter does an excellent job of keeping it interesting while still doing the math sometimes. Essential for those who think about uncertainty all the time. #handraised #Book

Massive respect for #MassiveAttack More #music artists leave #Spotify. Why can’t the Spotify CEO be happy with his enormous success? Why does he need to invest in deadly #AI tech? When will we re-normalize the idea of ‘enough’ financial success?

My #weekendread cuts through a lot of the hype to provide a smart overview of the state of things in the Age of #AI. Barrat's careful to keep a cautionary tone when it's appropriate, and call out #BigAI for its flawed thinking and lack of concern for the public good. A satisfying, useful read.

Yes, my #cat Wish enjoys a morning walk. We had a lovely stroll, listening to the @pivotpod.bsky.social podcast with @karaswisher.bsky.social and @profgalloway.com saying we need a company like @credtent.bsky.social to rally #artists to take back control of their work. Join us now at credtent.org.

It was an intense week at @credtent.bsky.social so my #weekendread had no #AI in it. Homo Ludens is a deeply academic #book about play and #games in human culture. A second read with notations is coming.

Still working from a list of #books on #neuroscience, my #weekendread was an illuminating study about how our understanding about the brain has changed over time. Anecdotal and super-readable, it's also a sad tale of how little we listen to non-white non-men.
