This is a plea to
@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social to fund core General Practice

The average GP practice has lost the equivalent of 2 GPs, a nurse & admin in funding over the last 8 years (20% cuts)

It’s good there are negotiations but patients want & need to see GPs

Funding needed! #TeamGP

These stats are frankly bonkers. If anybody is complaining about why they are waiting to see a GP. They need to ask why successive governments have not supported the same growth in GP numbers as it has hospital medic numbers.

Agree @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social or just going to sit & watch the end

GPs are often blamed for the problems of the NHS

Reality is somewhat different, since 2019 GPs have been providing 5million MORE appts per month (31million) with 20% less £/patient

For context
A&E has 2.2m attendances ⬆️200k
Out-Patients 8.7m
Ambulance calls 750k (no change)

Primary care needs investment not just tinkering at the edges. We cannot employ more staff without funding as bills are increasing far more than the increase in global sum.

NHS can’t fund assisted deaths but expect charity to fund palliative care

This must be funded

NHS Dentistry model?
1990s just 6% of Dentists were private providers (mainly London) now it’s 70%

NHS GP contract needs massive funding increase as it’s been cut 20% in 8yrs

UK already seeing increasing adverts for Private GP appts £50-£100

#NHS GPs get £115/yr/patient for everything

More home visits/face to face
More GP appointments
5million more a month

With 7.7m waiting for hospital treatments
1.6m for investigations
2m long term sick

Who do you think is seeing this group of people?

If you can’t get an appt someone else did, there is just not enough GPs or funding
