Here's an article for our students! I remember when the WWW, hypertext links, + browsers were new, but to my students it's always been there...The article tells of the web's origins in context w/ the era of Big Tech's AI. That context is urgent for us all just now.

We are so excited to be presenting shortly at #dh2025 on making a small explainable AI model “DigitAI” w/ our knowledge graph made from the #TEI Guidelines, and the declarative power of XSLT 3 (and 4) in work like this! Here are our slides!

Delighted to be learning from Javier Cha (opening keynote at #DH2025) about the RAG modeling we’re exploring now! I love how he tracks the progress from Cytoscape network viz to neo4j graph modeling in small systems for humanities data!

just saw a group of masked men stuffing masked ICE agents into an unmarked car, who were saying "we're ICE we're ICE!" but the abductors shouted to the crowd "no we're ICE!" no one knew who was ICE, so no one in the crowd said anything.

Right now, I would implore everyone to start generally thinking about readiness and situational awareness in major cities. Link up with neighbors. Who are your trusteds?

If you travel-- what is your plan for international travel/return to the states?
as things heat up in the streets, it’s really important to turn up with people you trust and *have a plan*

the plan cannot be to just wave signs around and then go home, or to have a few people get arrested for nothing. it’s not enough to just throw yourself into the gears blindly without strategy.

Don’t mess with PBS.
consequence.net/2025/05/trum...

We won’t go down without a fight. Yet another attempt by this administration to silence voices that they disagree with. The CPB partly funds PBS, but the rest of the money needed to run PBS and its member stations comes from private foundations and viewers like us.
