What a remarkable discovery! In SW Turkey a new species of Lycaenid was discovered, Rapala suleymani sp.n., of a genus that was only known from the eastern palearctic & indomalayan realms, it's closest relative flies 7000km away! doi.org/10.31184/M00...

The agricultural system of the chalk in Southern England is now obscured by major changes, yet elements of it still exist. Likely the scale of change of chalk rivers and their floodplain is not widely appreciated, the creation of water-meadows (an artificial system of irrigation) is part of the down

The biggest (by DBH) and oldest standing tree in Monks Wood. A veteran oak, seemingly a former pollard that used to be on edge of the wood, now surrounded by expanded woodland. Must measure the girth one day, must be 3-4 m.
