We have an excellent MAT program here at UMass! I struggle to think of, or imagine such a program, since PhD programs seek to make someone an expert in the subject itself. IST the expertise is in pedagogy, is a PhD in education what you’re after? Possibly showing my ignorance of the latter here.

Whether you agree with the article or not, its presence in The New Yorker is DEFCON 1 for the humanities. Parents and administrators read The New Yorker. If this perspective is in the Overton window there, departments will absolutely need to position themselves in a way that responds to it.

Same is true for the NEH funded PBMP: the ~20000 uses in 2023 was obviously not solely from academics.

I forget the name, but a couple decades ago there was a law passed to allow the president to impose tariffs under emergency conditions. He is presupposing an emergency.
