Delighted to share our 'Androgen clock' paper in #PNAS ow.ly/Guts50ULghF - the first way to predict long-term androgen exposure using DNA alone. We so much more than the sequence we are born with! Stellar work (and animation - SOUND ON) by Dr Victoria Sugrue youtu.be/GL55yjMalII

1/ I’m very excited to share my postdoc work with @kseskv.bsky.social, in collaboration with @oligriffith.bsky.social. We explore embryonic DNA methylation reprogramming in the fat-tailed dunnart, an Australian marsupial 🦘🌏 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Gutting to see Predator Free 2025 disestablished in the latest budget and rolled into DOC, which in turn is facing its own budget challenges. Lost funding and, more importantly, capacity and capability through this disestablishment makes the goal harder to achieve.

Delighted to see this high-quality marsupial reprogramming work from @lab-turner.bsky.social and kiwi @bryonyleeke.bsky.social (rdcu.be/emAjn). We also saw muted PGC reprogramming in brushtail possum rdcu.be/emAk5. Same is true for Zebrafish. Maybe eutherians and complete erasure is the outlier?
Divergent DNA methylation dynamics in marsupial and eutherian embryos
Nature - A study reports on the DNA methylation dynamics during embryogenesis in marsupials, showing that these differ from those occurring during embryogenesis in eutherian mammals.

Fascinating to learn more about the brushtail possum in its home range - and wonderful to see the NZ possum assembly (rdcu.be/ekB2O) helping clarify taxonomy.....Congrats Shelby Middleton, @pezoporus.bsky.social and co-authors

Australia’s common brushtail possum has long been neglected in terms of its taxonomy. My amazing PhD student Shelby Middleton along with a stellar supervisor team has attempted to resolve this species. Check it here: academic.oup.com/zoolinnean/a...
Revised phylogeography of the common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) reveals new insights into genetic structure across Australia
Abstract. Understanding genetic relationships within species is essential for identifying distinct genetic lineages and informing conservation strategies,
