In Burma, one may lose rights they had at one point... and then never get them back. Rights aren't inalienable. I suggest this has something to do with conceptions of (political) personhood and intersubjective / collective understandings of the affordances of the Burmese social milieu [3/3]

whereas Americans describe "our" rights as ours even when they're not delivered (you have to "fight for *your* right to party," as the Beastie Boys are fond of reminding us), this same grammar of possession tends not to attend Burmese descriptions of rights. [2/3]

Yeah I got that. And you’re right it’s a totally different stat! Probabilistic reasoning rather than Bayesian, we could say? If I wanted probabilities I would watch, shudder, baseball. The whole point of good sports is that the mean changes! “It’s why you play the games.”

Those stats are dumb. Sometimes the mean is not to be regressed to!

[But the fact that JB is the leader in the playoffs in offensive plus minus AND dead last in defensive plus minus is a wild stat that I wholly support (per Michael Pina’s Ringer article).]

one could have watched that amazing game yesterday and just watched Dunn. I don’t think I’ve ever seen as intuitive or creative defender as this guy.
