I'm fortunate with my techs that they usually follow a proper troubleshooting process - start at the beginning, don't skip steps, don't jump to conclusions. If they get stuck, they know not to come to me until they've done the basics, or they'll get an earful.

The UK ('pro-EU groups / the govt) seem to be working their way through the 'why can't we have ....' options before they have to accept the a-la-carte options available.

Brexiters like the idea of Gastarbeiter.

The fact that most shoppers don't care is the problem.

Foreign investment by these service type businesses really is a lose-lose for the UK economy. They 'invest' here and then employ people on low wages who need benefits top-ups and then export all of their profit without paying much tax.

He doesn't want to be hostage to reliance on people, he prefers tech. Once we are surplus to requirements, we're really screwed.

Are these the same people who said Starmer would pivot to rejoin immediately after the GE? Dedicated party people are blind to the failures of their party in government and would rather make (bad) excuses than actually criticise the dear leader.
November 19, 2025 at 9:43 AM
We had the 'not the tories' effect last time. This time, people are pissed off about the lack of change under Labour. I'm strictly voting on policy at the next GE.
November 18, 2025 at 12:04 PM
Incredibly loud to the point of calling me childish or naive to think that this pivot wasn't obvious and that Labour's pro-brexit manifesto was just to con the brexit voters. In the end, the only con was people trying to convince remainers that Labour was pro-EU against all evidence to the contrary.

Electrics vans with good range seem a way away still.

Campaign message: Change.
Actual manifesto: More of the same.
People heard "change" and then got pissed off when they actually got "more of the same".

.... facing up to the need for immigration to deal with our aging population and building enough housing. As we are, we're frittering money away every year without actually addressing the issues that are causing stagnant growth.
November 14, 2025 at 2:49 PM
Politicians seem to be unable or unwilling to deal with the major issues facing the economy. Brexit, infrastructure investment to encourage regional growth, company tax policies to encourage growth and to stop big business from exporting profits to tax havens, improving education .....
November 14, 2025 at 2:45 PM
Surely anti-dumping regulations fall under the category of EU red tape that brexiters were desperate to get rid of?
November 13, 2025 at 3:15 PM
See also policies like increasing small business taxation so there's no benefit to running a small business while at the same time allowing multi-nationals / sharp operators to export profits to tax havens while their underpaid employees are claiming benefits.
November 13, 2025 at 3:13 PM
The tories certainly did their bit with tax rises. Plus, both are supporting hard brexit. Making life more shit is definitely a joint effort.

Trump was a con man in 2015, it took him a while to notice.

i3S is great, I had one. Loved it.

Pre-bribe to get let off the tax.
November 12, 2025 at 5:13 PM
The EU distributing our money to level up poorer areas followed by brexit and no equivalent UK funding being provided.

It was on the local news last night that she is requiring that all staff in her office work in the office, not from home. So officialy, her workplace is at the office, so travel expenses cannot be claimed (and if they are paid, they are a benefit in kind for tax purposes).

Cutting red tape allows unscrupulous businesses to cut corners without being checked on. If we want a situation where more people die of food poisoning or workplace accidents, this is how to do it. Does anyone ever actually say this when Farage is being interviewed and is spouting about red tape?

They knew what they were voting for.
