The freshly smoked chillis are now chilli powder (the dark powder). The light powder is umsmoked made from a jar of existing dried chillies I had. The sauce is adobo from some previously smoked chillies.

Got the ripe chillies off before the frosts start. Smoking these with hickory and then making chilli powder once they're fully dry.

The cooling towers at Cottam power station came down today. It was a big part of our local skyline along with West Burton, it looks a bit strange without them.

Recognition here that the machinery directive is being replaced by regulation 2023:1230, in force in 2027. No recognition of the position of NI, which (as I understand it) will have to follow this new EU law, which means bringing it into UK law, as was done with the original machinery directive.

It's a long time since I saw one of these. It's on French 75 plates (Paris) and looks like it'll need some work. No price in the window but online at £5,150.

Book a commercial vehicle from GB to NI and it is effectively 'abroad'.

Travelling to NI with goods / tools in a van. Working WITHIN the UK. Below is what you get on Stenna Line for Liverpool To Belfast. Hint: a decent size company pool car to use for Belfast or Dublin work eliminates this crap.

I'm not sure that brings much to the party vs. the stock 850 coupe. This Moretti on the other hand .......

A couple of pictures of the graveyard and the remnants of the village with the cooling towers as a backdrop. It's not a very accessible location, but worth a trip.

Looking for the aurora this evening as radiation levels are currently high. It's still a bit light to spot the aurora, but this is a nice image.

70 km and 71 km marker boards on the river Trent. I had to look this up, it seems to be distance to Nottingham.

These 3 clapper gates are on the stretch of the Trent between Torksey and Laughterton on the East bank of the river. There are some nice working gates like these a little further south, but clearly nobody cares about these 3.

Sad old caravan seen today. This is the 'good' end, the other end was basically missing.

Here we go.

We made up stakes using what we had lying around and cut up some half rotten bamboo screens / pieces of fence panels as backing. The result is really good, around 7 metres done and it's dense enough to be hard to see through. Also, much better to slowly rot the wood down rather than burn it.

This is my idea of the classic French blue, as used on French racing cars.

Seriously, why us? Won't these people just fuck off and leave us alone?

Working outside today and getting the final winter jobs done. I'd already pruned one of these quince trees less drastically, but they were both getting really toppy with dozens of vertical shoots heading upwards and little growth underneath. A couple of hours with the chainsaw, and ...

Found this little guy in the mud from digging out the drainage ditch along the front of our house. Stamped 1971. Cleaned him up with a toothbrush and he's installed in the house now.
