No value, no villain, no vision. Sounds like the tagline for the earnings call of a collapsing appliance retailer

Basically a larger version of post-Soviet collapse Russia
I wrote a piece recently about how Trump, Putin, Musk and the rest are actually fellow citizens of a borderless, lawless society designed to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. Politics and patriotism are just a cover.
"By dangling multibillion-dollar rare-earth and energy deals, Moscow could reshape the economic map of Europe—while driving a wedge between America and its traditional allies"

Etzebeth's style of play makes him a player I've always wanted to like, but he so often makes it impossible. Apart from it being 73-0 with minutes left, when you have that size and power, why go for the coward's act of thuggery?

Finding all the "USians" umbrage quite funny - particularly as people around the world have been calling the denizens of that strip between Mexico and Canada a lot worse recently

This year's build-up to the Arsenal Christmas Collapse™ is looking like an epic
Arsenal have allowed fewer shots on target (7) against them than any other team in the Champions League, the lowest Expected Goals Against (1.94) and are the only team yet to concede a goal in this season’s competition.

"If people don't continuously buy things they can't afford, it's bad for the health of the economy."

"Hmm, maybe we should take a look at that economic model?"

"Nah, let's focus on finding ways to keep the rubes wasting their money so billionaires are happy."
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

Tidying up some folders and came across this clip from 2009. Over the hills from Sa Pa to Bac Ha on a rather inclement monsoon day. Huge drop on one side, torrents of water and the occasional boulder coming down the other. Visibility... less than ideal.😁 Trip well worth it for the Sunday market

Consider Mexico. A thread.

Once upon a time, not even so very long ago, you would often hear from Russia's propagandists and their little helpers in the West about the "Mexico scenario".

Russia liked people to think that it only invaded its neighbours because it was forced to do so by NATO -

I've realised that my kids' only experience of certain songs is from my practising them ad nauseam on tenor uke. It's a bit jarring - but a pleasant surprise😁 - when they hear something so familiar being sung by Ted Hawkins or JJ Cale

X rolled out a new feature overnight showing where accounts are based. This network of “Trump-supporting independent women” that claimed to be “real Americans” are based in Thailand.

The photos were stolen from European models & posts pushed pro-Trump lines while targeting Islam and LGBTQ people.

1/2 Was the non-decision on Feinberg-Mngomezulu game-defining? Probably not, and anyway it can't be allowed to be a fig leaf for real issues. Ireland's age profile & apparent lack of depth are a major worry. Big danger of cruising into a World Cup with an old front line and raw replacements

Heads-up for media credulously reporting on the "US peace plan": it looks like the suspicion that the Trump administration was just delivering and pushing Russia's surrender terms was spot on
So the US was aware that the world thought the document was US endorsed, yet waited until now to clarify that it wasn't?

How could the US have communicated to Ukraine that they had to accept the proposal or lose US support without clarifying that the Russian proposal wasn't actually their proposal?
