Apple TV+ is a tiny streamer and there’s almost no way this doesn’t decimate F1’s audience. How do I know? We already saw this exact same thing happen with MLS, with their games reportedly dropping to as low as 80K viewers, down from 350K on ESPN.

They got $140 mil a year, down from the $180 they wanted Disney/ESPN to pay initially.

I’ve already seen more hyperbolic, ridiculous headlines spreading across Substack. I’m not going to be a part of it. Maybe it inhibits my growth long term, but I’m betting that it will maximize my revenue.

Obviously the latter. 

But A/B testing leads to more hyperbolic headlines, not great for customer satisfaction, because nothing is worse than reading a headline and not getting what the article/newsletter promises!

Why? It’s not about the “data”, it’s about how that data helps strategy. Specifically, in this case, it measures a metric that doesn’t actually align to a long term strategy for premium newsletters.

What matters more, one email’s open rate or...long term customer loyalty?
