Nice. Criterion Channel's doing a 42 film collection of the French New wave for the next couple of months, so I'm planning to dive into that movement for the first time.

The fact that you have to opt out, rather than opt in is a deal breaker for me.

Plus, I've been planning to try out some new (for me) painting techniques and paints on this one, and I've really been looking forward to that part of things.

Yeah. It isn't as warped as I thought. I thought the hab ring & docking ring were in the same plane, but schematics/studio model show the hab slightly higher. It'll still be a little off when viewed from one angle, but I can put that against the wall 😂.

There's still warping present (30 year-old kit) but not the project killing amount I thought. So. Onwards!

Looks like I spoke too soon. I had it in my head that the inner hab ring & outer docking ring were on the same plane. Looking at various schematics & studio pics, it turns out that the hab ring is slightly above the dicking ring when viewed side on. 1/2

Yeah, their US retailer has been out of the standard Dark Dirt Wash for a while now (tariffs, shipping issues, etc.), and I'm out!

Looks great! I'm always amazed at how well Flory Washes work.

Sublime. Very likely foundational for any and all future takes on the story. Gothic, Romantic, grotesque, horrific, beautiful, lush. See it. In the theater if you can, but see it.

Astonishingly bad movie. Makes its points with a battering ram, & really, really does not like women. Internally inconsistent, & spends a lot of time tightly focused on impossibly beautiful bodies for a film said to be a critique of impossible beauty standards.

Bigelow almost always hits it out of the park for me, and this one is no exception. She's making very specific points and trusts her audience enough to do the ending she gives us. Not quite a 21st century "The Day After," but close.

Solid film. I'm not a Springsteen fan, and went in knowing nothing about his discography or life and was completely sucked in. (My wife IS a fan, and loved it as well, despite some fictionalization here and there).
