Curiously, the Liberals have a statistically insignificant edge in Alberta; however, this finding is almost certainly an artefact of chance given the small sample size in the province (this finding did not appear in our parallel Probit survey).

As others have pointed out, there are errors in that quote. It's disinformation, really. The other side frequently does this kind of stuff quite shamelessly—we can do better than this.
1. That county that produces the whiskey is in TN, not KY (but it did vote 5-1 for Trump). https://www.brown-forman.com/brand/jack-daniels 2. Ontario is the "largest purchaser"? Actually, I would call the quote "disinformation." It seems to have gone viral, so not much can be done about it now.

Btw, I'm Canadian, against the tariffs & obviously not a fan of the Orangutan—but we shouldn't act like the other side & we can do much better than this.

The quote attributed to Mike Waltz about Zelensky being "dressed incorrectly" is false (see video). Nonetheless, Trump's staff did suggest a change in attire, according to Axios.

One small but not insignificant factor that irritated Trump was the fact that Zelensky didn't wear a suit, two sources with direct knowledge told Axios. Trump's advisers told Zelensky's team on multiple occasions that it would be more respectful for Zelensky to ditch his military-style attire when visiting the White House.

Umm, if you're on social media of any kind, you're already in one, whether it's done (sub)consciously or algorithmically.

Ironically, I never blocked & muted instead on Twitter because I didn't want to give them the satisfaction (some revel in it, of course), but I now block here even though it's far less toxic.

This is from an article by @yair-rosenberg.bsky.social & it helped to modify my thinking about blocking:

Yet on social media, this sort of caustic conduct is not only tolerated but sometimes celebrated. In our day-to-day lives, getting disciplined for misbehavior is how we learn to be better. But because such norms were never upheld on the internet, many spaces turned toxic, and many people never got the feedback they needed to grow out of their bad habits. Blocking is part of that feedback. When people realize that their opinions won't be heard if they express them in a certain way, they stop. Even if they don't, you have no obligation to accommodate them. Your social-media feed is your party and you decide the guest list. By doing so, you're not being thin-skinned; you're being a conscientious host who cultivates good vibes.

Can laymen grasp scientific papers?

I have a Microbiology degree. Even I've trouble understanding papers in my field, mainly bc I got my degree years ago then stopped, so my knowledge is rusty. I know what I don't know, so I mostly stay silent.

The average Joe has no clue how much he doesn't know.

Who knows if Keanu Reeves actually said this, but it's mostly why I don't post that often on social media.

I also block even if I just randomly read an annoying post that has nothing to do with me, because life's too damn short. I expect the same if I ever post something dumb. Block baby block. 🧱

You reached out so I want to give you the benefit of the doubt. I am sure he is good people, but let me tell you where I am others are coming from and am tried of putting up with. If the only solution you see to help a traditionally marginalized community — and you’re part of the demo that’s done the marginalization — is to put yourself in the center/gatekeeper — intentionally or not, even with good goals — essentially framing yourself as the savior, you’re missing the mark. There are so many more ways to help. If you genuinely want to help communities, you empower and support without taking any attention or resources from them. Again, intended or not. If I were him and I were a genuine ally, I’d approach a person within the actual community and help them set this up. You wouldn’t see or hear me in building this. You would only see and hear this community. They would be elevated. And I could/should certainly amplify and hype up. You wouldn’t know my role, let alone have to go through me to be added onto this list. And there are other ways people could help. Lots of us are tired of these self appointed “saviors” — regardless of intentions. And if they get defensive when you call this out, that’s a red flag. And if people rush to defend, they carry that red flag too. I am a random guy in your timeline. You went out of your way to post at me. You are carrying a potential red flag. You can get defensive or, and I don’t mean this in a lecturey way, you can learn something about being a better, genuine ally. And next time speak up to your good people so they can be better people. In fact, that’s my role here. I learned this lesson too. I may not be perfect but I know my voice has more weight than others — who might want to but can’t. I’ll take the heat. But I will speak up like I learned.

There's at the very least an implicit social contract that we all do our part so society functions well, preferable over chaos & insecurity.

Those insisting on personal rights without recognizing social responsibilities can just live off-grid, or forever be stuck in adolescence.
