i think state/military interests are definitely a major factor for the major players like big tech and openAI/xAI, but for all the others i think it's just occam's razor: the idea of firing everyone and just feeding it into the Magic Machine is too tempting

i'm thinking some arcade music games as they are now are basically minimal text gachas, but playing those games properly means having to "read" the notes and comprehend patterns

I checked the japanese website and nintendo isn't listed as a publisher specifically, just the pokemon company. maybe this is a weird edge case?

i'd say the only other group that comes close are the ellisons/oracle-skydance, but even i don't know if they'd be willing to (or even can) outbid the PIF

my guess is now that they're out of stuff to port from the wii u, they're gonna do more wii and 3DS remasters to pad out their release schedule in between newer games
(they're already sorta doing this with skyward sword HD and SMG1+2)
