Anthony has a strong innocence claim and no physical evidence was used in convicting him. His nitrogen gas execution is scheduled for this Thursday. I know this time on a weekday with last minute notification may impossible for some of you to attend but wanted to let y'all know it's happening.
AL - Faith leaders, advocates and family members from across the nation will gather online for a national press conference to protest the planned execution of Anthony Boyd and to deliver a final appeal: Governor Kay Ivey should meet personally with Anthony Boyd before she allows his execution to move forward. Boyd, who has steadfastly maintained his innocence, is scheduled to be executed under Alabama’s nitrogen hypoxia protocol, a method condemned by human rights experts and faith leaders as cruel, experimental, and torturous. Alabama’s first nitrogen execution drew international outrage after witnesses described choking, convulsions, and prolonged suffering - contradicting the state’s claims of a “humane” death. During the press conference, Anthony Boyd himself will issue a direct, personal invitation to Governor Ivey, asking her to come to Holman Correctional Facility and meet with him before making an irreversible decision. His words will stand as his final extended public appeal to the people of Alabama and the nation to ask Governor Ivey to have the courage to meet with him. He will expand upon this previous statement.

It's pretty simple to see the South has a problem. Historically, what else is the South known for?

The map is a grey map of the continental US with shades of blue depicting the lowest number of executions, getting darker for the most. Florida is leading with 14, Texas next with 5, and Alabama and South Carolina with 4. With the exception of 3 executions, all the states that have executed anyone this year are in the South.
