Regular Americans will pay for President Trump’s import tax hikes with higher prices on almost everything we buy. Clothes, food, cellphones, heating our homes – all will be more expensive. The retaliation from our trading partners will cost us jobs, and past tariffs under both Trump and Biden suggest they will not bring more jobs home to replace them. Everyone from the United Auto Workers to the National Association of Manufacturers to Donald Trump himself thinks we are going to suffer from these across-the-board tariffs. Congress must step in. The House and Senate gave the president unilateral authority to impose tariffs, and they can revoke it or put guardrails on its use. I am calling on you to take action to stop this economic wrecking ball from swinging at our country or to accept responsibility for the spiking costs and lost jobs we will have to deal with.

I am writing to you as a deeply concerned constituent regarding the unprecedented and alarming access Elon Musk, an unelected individual, has to multiple sensitive federal programs. The notion that someone without electoral legitimacy or formal accountability can exert influence over critical governmental functions is not only deeply troubling but poses a serious risk to the integrity of our institutions. Transparency, security, and trust in government are fundamental pillars of our democracy. When an individual, not chosen by the people nor confirmed through established processes, is granted access to classified or sensitive federal operations, it raises severe ethical and security concerns. The American public deserves to know how and why such access has been permitted, and, more importantly, what steps are being taken to correct this dangerous oversight. I urge you to take immediate action to investigate this matter thoroughly and to push for the removal and prosecution of this individual as necessary. Furthermore, I request that safeguards be reinforced to prevent any such breach of public trust from happening in the future. The American people rely on their elected representatives to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of our governmental systems. I appreciate your time and your commitment to serving our district. I look forward to your prompt response on this urgent issue.
