The overall message, if the findings are true (replicable), needs to be directed at consumers of disinformation not scholars. How do we, citizens consuming disinformation, learn to recognize the emotional triggers in the messages and engage critical thought?

The issue of the inability to "unwind" unlawful decisions made by the president highlights the Supreme Court's failure to automatically uphold stays put in place by lower courts and to expedite full hearings on all issues surrounding challenges to presumed unconstitutional acts by the president.

He gets it all wrong (surprise). Roughly 25% receive medicaid, 12% ACA, and 19% medicare. Those not on federal programs DO NOT pay higher premiums because of the federal programs but do so because of the uninsured. The GOP doesn't want TAXES to help pay for healthcare. That's the 'fake.'

'Brilliant:' keep your healthcare plan secret rather than build public support for it. He revealed 'the plan' when he suggested swapping money for ACA assistance from insurers (they are evil), to taxpayers who can buy insurance from the same insurers with no plan requirements from the government.

Yet another sad GOP "scam" on the American people. They really think we are stupid. They haven't had a "health plan alternative" since ACA passed. They have nothing. The guts of ACA was the only plan they ever had and it now belongs to Obama. All they can do is destroy healthcare.

Of all the issues facing the country at this moment, the Supreme Court chose this one to address first! The Constitution is challenged daily regarding the use of military and paramilitary force domestically and in international waters; illegal arrests, detentions, and deportations,...

Also include the uninsured who are citizens (of which there are too many). Additionally, none of that changes by keeping the GOP budget cuts to health care the Dems want to restore, it only increase the number of uninsured, exacerbating the problem for the rest of us.

As with many government programs, he wants to "reform" them into invisibility. Improving is not a consideration, elimination or reducing them to nothing is the goal.

We just spent 5 days in Chicago. It is no war zone. It is not a hell hole. It is a great city of diverse people and cutlures. While many of its citizens may protest the actions of the current regime they only threat they present is bad optics and hurt feelings. That is NOT war.

Law school cannot overcome the desire to obtain and keep power at all costs. "The law" becomes a game to be manipulated. They prey on the ignorance of the people they serve.

You are 'shocked' that it took so long for us to find out, right?

Every consequence "Speaker" Johnson lists is a choice. It will reflect the pain the MAGA leadership wants to impose on the American people. None of these choices will be made by Democrats, all of them will be made MAGA leadership. They are to blame.

Do they realize that if Trump writes an executive order cutting food assistance, that it will be HIS order, not democrats, that causes the suffering? This will be so for every punitive EO he writes.

Having lived through this political era, I can say the article tracks quite well with my lived experience and with my conclusions regarding our current state of affairs. It has been a successful, well orchestrated 'long game' quest for power. Is it too late to create the needed counter-offensive?

This tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about their priorities regarding terrorism. Terrorist acts are not to be prevented. There occurrence will be used to increase the militarization of the streets in the US.

Ariella this was a great thread. Thank you. I look forward to following more of your contributions.

What does he think people on holidays do, sit at home and simply collect 'free money?' Working people take holidays to do things with family and friends, most often involving the spending of money. Economies are tricky to understand: for one person to make money, someone else must spend money.

In medical research, as in all other types of scientific research, it is not the researchers/doctors who are "peer reviewed,' it is the research itself and the methods used. Jones cites no studies. His opinion is simply that - the opinion of a person with no knowledge..

So glad to see Sherrod back in the game. He is definitely the kind of candidate that Ohio needs to have.

You can lie about reality, but it doesn't change it. You can lie about the problems you face, but it will not solve them. You can kill messengers who speak the truth, but it doesn't make the message false. Attempting to hide reality doesn't hide its consequences; people will know and act accordingly

Who was it that had Colbert and Stewart "taken off the ...airwaves" in 2014? I don't recall the Daily Show off the air. The Colbert Report was on until Dec 2014 and his Late Show began in Sept of 2015. They were hardly absent from the political scene leading up to the nomination.

Which party controls the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate, which approved all the appointments for the cabinet and agency heads, who fired existing agency staff and hired the new ones? On yeah, Republicans. So Republicans "manipulated the weather" to flood Texas?

It is not a complex cognitive task to think through the differences between citizens wearing masks to prevent the transmission of disease versus "law enforcement" wearing masks to hide their identities. Only Fox News would have difficulty distinguishing the difference.

I might add that every Democrat that has run against a MAGA Republican has been a "socialist/communist," so what's Kasich's point?
