This #tweetorial will run you through umbrella studies at the ENA. As you may already know, a study groups together data submitted to the archive and controls its release date. Umbrella studies are study objects in the ENA which provide hierarchical grouping of other studies

1/14 Programmatic submissions are completed by preparing your submissions as XML documents and either sending them to ENA using a program such as cURL or using the Webin Portal. This #tweetorial will run you through submission of raw read data using the programmatic route.

Happy #InternationalBeerDay! The hero of which is the humble brewers yeast, Sacchromyces cerevisiae. @ENASequence has over 170,000 sequence records for this species and more than 150,000 raw read data sets open to the public. Small but mighty!
November 27, 2024 at 2:44 PM
Happy #WorldSnakeDay! 🐍 Did you know that @ENASequence has 25 TeraBases of raw read data archived for the Serpentes suborder? As well as more than a quarter of a million sequence records! Search for the Serpentes tax ID (8570) in the ENA Browser or a specific snake species!

50% of voters were right! @ENASequence received on average 17 submissions per minute in the last 12 months. That’s over 25,000 submissions per day! Not even counting all the data we mirror from other INSDC nodes, NCBI and DDBJ!

1/11 This week’s #tweetorial will focus on searching the ENA for data through “Advanced Search”. We’ll go through step by step how you might build a query for read data in the ENA. Hopefully you’ll feel able to build your own query afterwards!
November 27, 2024 at 2:43 PM
The ENA Advanced Search is a powerful way to search the archive for datasets that meet criteria of interest to you. It can help you build complex search queries, these can be saved and run again. Familiarise yourself with the Advanced Search interface:

Programmatic submissions are completed using XML documents and either sending them to ENA using a program such as cURL or using the Webin Portal. Programmatic submissions are beneficial to high volume submitters and is the only route for submitting some object types.
November 27, 2024 at 2:43 PM
Webin-CLI submissions use the Webin command line submission interface. This validates your submissions entirely before you complete them, allowing you maximum control of the process. This is a good option for people comfortable with CLIs who wish to submit most data types to us.
November 27, 2024 at 2:42 PM
Webin Interactive is a user-friendly web based interface with our submission services. This is often the most accessible data submission route. Log into your Webin account using the link below:
