If I use the Noto CJK fonts, the glyph variation appears to be Chinese (Simplified) vs Chinese (Traditional) vs Korean Hanja vs Japanese. I haven't tested Chữ Nôm yet, so not sure what the preferred glyph would be.

All the blank characters defined in Unicode are those in screenshot attached, so what your app is looking for isn't a 'blank' but something else, the question is what is that something else?

Interestingly you only get that translation if you add full text. With only first paragraph it fails to translate

possibly a way to improve it is to normalise strings to NFD and then casefold, this would allow letters with a diacritic to be sorted directly after the base character, and use a tuple for the sort key to control whether lowercase letters should be sorted before or after the uppercase letter.
