The fact that she had been sh free for 9 months AND knew when to seek help should both be commended

if you know a doctor personally please mention to them over dinner that trans people are waiting in the wings for them to do a focus group about the knowledge gaps we have noticed

She is the medical director for the only marine recruit depot on the west coast. Half of all marines go through MCRD. To fire her leaves half the corps at risk of not being medically cleared for deployment.

All because she provided trans healthcare, which has probably been already gutted.

I’m truly sorry that you are struggling with your healthcare. I hate that our country treats healthcare the way it does and I hate that it’s affecting you.

I wouldn’t wish that on anyone

And if she is proud of her work, we as a society should cut off the source of income she earned through her service per the terms of her contract?

She already doesn’t have healthcare when she gets out since they gutted the VA.

Not trying to say what she did was honorable in ethics or morality but it was honorable to the terms of her contract. A contract that the country voided solely on the basis of her being trans. That is not good for trans people in the US

I’m not arguing that what she did was moral or ethical or right.

I’m saying that she signed a contract with the country and the country reneged on that deal solely because she is trans. And that is bad for trans people

I read it. And maybe because I’m a vet too, I don’t see it quite like bragging.

She def contributed to the war machine. But these are also things that we have been told are honorable. She deployed, put herself in harms way, served honorably. And now she is losing the ability to support herself

These discussions never make sense to me. I’ve been on HRT for 2 years and still avoid gendered bathrooms/changing rooms when I can. This idea that I would go into a changing room and flaunt my junk is utterly ridiculous. I’m just trying to get changed/pee as safely as possible

It’s also very difficult to ask the dead if their lack of trans healthcare was their main driving factor in their suicide.

Right, but wouldn’t that mean the Dr. Levine argued for the better treatment of patients and not a more conservative WPATH. Like more conservative would be to put in age road blocks?

I encounter this sometimes where we consult a specialist and they recommend a specific drug or intervention.

If I go against that and something goes wrong, even if it was the right call medically, it opens the door to ask “but why didn’t you do what the expert said to do?”
June 21, 2025 at 7:28 PM
I understood this differently. Maybe I’m wrong but the idea was to have no age mins. Because you want to treat the patient. If your patient hits puberty at 10 but WPATH states PBs start at 12, you’re forcing that doctor to go against guidelines and exposing them to harmful malpractice suits

I once had a doctor colleague tell me that he wished I was better accepted so I wouldn’t feel the need to have surgery.

I think about this interaction a lot and how even members of the medical community don’t understand how profoundly important these medical interventions are

IMO: if you’re worried about your child losing a scholarship opportunity as a way to afford college, maybe look at how we’ve stopped funding public universities instead of blaming trans athletes for ‘stealing your spot’.

Trans athletes deserve scholarships as much as cis athletes.

So gonna get technical: Lia qualified for 2019 NCAAs with B cuts in her events. This does not guarantee a spot at NCAAs because they only take the top 30 or so swimmers.

She did not go to NCAAs but her season bests would’ve put her 37th and 24th. She was 2nd fastest in her conference in both races
