When you're backpacking with your wife and kids and encounter a cliff and need to get everyone and their packs down safely so you do the rough section over and over and over.

My goodness I love New Orleans. I just got back from my 6th trip to that amazing city. I miss it already. Here's a photo of breakfast at Molly's Rise and Shine on Magazine.

Every year I build an NCAA bracket in spreadsheets. This year's is a thing of beauty. Men's and Women's brackets. Individual brackets and consolidated views. Oh yes. This is precisely how much I enjoy making a good Google Sheet.

Stereolab finally released "Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky NIght" (1999) on vinyl. This has always been my favorite Stereolab album and I think it's underrated. Here's a cool song from this album that switches between 5/4 and 7/8: youtu.be/e5XaMfrMKaM?... #nowspinning #vinyl

Walking past this sign last summer I turned to my wife and said, "Oh...fancy! A French park."

Random discovery many years after the fact: the philosopher John Dewey once lived on South University in Ann Arbor where Village Corner was located. I had no idea. That's where I bought my first beer and also where I learned that 9/11 had happened. It closed in 2010 to make way for a high rise.

Here are some photos of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park that I took in September 2005. That was very early into my journey into photography, but I remember being very happy with these photos. #photography #landscapephotography

Here's a #homecooking tip for anyone who uses a lot of garlic. Buy a Costco of peeled garlic (3 lbs), put it in a food processor, then freeze it in ice cube trays covered with foil or plastic wrap. Can be moved to ziplock bags after frozen. I do this every few months and save tons of time overall.

"You'll never see our ICE raids coming. They have a two day head start on you, which is more than they need. They speak a dozen languages and know every local custom. They can blend in and disappear. You'll never see them again."

Random heads-up: Spurrier-ass rss feed replaces every article with election recommendations from 2020 and a photo of that parking lot by the Fleetwood Diner.

It's always very helpful and encouraging when Google Analytics 4 is having issues attributing traffic from Google search results.

A sepia photo of Taos Pueblo from underneath a ramada. I took this photo in 2009. It hangs on my family room wall next to a few other photos of New Mexico. #landscape #photography

Everyone knows that the water (and therefore the fires) are controlled by California's giant router. Just needed to be unplugged and then plugged back in.

Also, look at this code for the honeypot. The honeypot form field is wrapped in a div with the class "gfield--type-honeypot." Really?! They explicitly identify the honeypot form field with "honeypot" in a CSS class?! Impressive.

The Colorado River in May 2009. This is the Ruby-Horsethief Canyon section. We camped at one of the Black Rocks sites while whitewater rafting. #photography

Exactly! With some minor caveats: the book is actually quite small (my copy, 1994 from the University of Michigan Press is only 164 pages). And "On Nihilism" is the last chapter.
