Wrecked. I probably spent like 100 hours writing over the past few weeks at least. Doesn't even count the time doing analytics. I'm not even sure if I have the spoons to edit this.

But still, final paper done, figures added, and feeling accomplished if not exhausted. ✌️

Was going to spend this afternoon brushing up on some code and inserting some map figures into a report but instead I am designated pillow after being gone for a week

here's tips for making a dog safe quesadilla:

Plain tortillas are usually fine but check the ingredients

Use low salt cheese, mozzarella and cottage cheese is usually okay in limited quantities

Use unseasoned cooked meat with the fat drained

Not for dogs w/ lipid/pancreas issues

Back story: last October I adopted a very elderly very special needs dog. He's getting blood work for kidney function tomorrow and he NEEDS to eat before 18 hour fast but was refusing all day to have dry or wet food. He perked up when I had a burrito tonight:

Just got back from an amazing time! I finally got to meet my cohort and faculty in person and it was everything I hoped for. We nerded out about spatial science, research, etc late into the night. Presenting at the symposium -cool, but tbh? The highlight was feeling like I found my people

Of course, without control points or stable geometry, you're not going to be digitizing parcels from pigeon photos—but it does challenge how we think about early remote sensing.
March 23, 2025 at 12:22 AM
Did you know aerial photography was once done by pigeons? No, seriously. In the early 1900s, Julius Neubronner strapped tiny cameras to trained homing pigeons and let them capture photos midflight.

I’ve been diving into these images with a cartographer’s eye and they’re weirdly beautiful.
