The show didn't do enough to promote a sense of empathy for her beyond a generic sense of decency and humour. What is she really risking? Why does she really keep her secret from Alek? I don't feel like we got her perspective much after the 4th or 5th episode.

Also found her opening scenes weirdly devoid of backstory: we see family photos that imply she's in her childhood home, but no one else is there. Is this supposed to mean that her family has no problem with her disguising herself as a boy and joining the air service - in 1914?!?
