Concern with AI reporting fake sources and statistics would be from bias in those creating the algorithm. I think that right now AI is being used and people have the intention of it supporting and assisting journalists, not taking their jobs. #UWJ201 #319

I think that some Americans aren't even aware that their information and habits are being used to track/gain information on them. It has become such a norm in our society and there is no awareness of how it can be dangerous. #UWJ201 #319

Going back to the lecture about objectivity, I don't think that completely objective reporting is possible. Objective reporting is one dimensional and can lack truth in a sense. Advocating professionalism can have slant and not bias which in ways might be better than objectivity. #UWJ201 @319

I agree. When the central route was mentioned in lecture, I was thinking about the ShamWow commercials. Infomercials also have elements of the social proof principle. #UWJ201 #319

I think that misleading content can be convincing too because people will not take the time to reason through what they see or question if what they are hearing makes sense or not. This could be why Trump's immigration numbers vs Biden could be so convincing to Republicans. #UWJ201 #319

I think that the trust with hearing it from someone you know allows you to be more understanding of what was wrong. Maybe embarrassment could play into the defensive reactions by factchecking journalists. Maybe a sense of being "caught" even if they meant to share misinformation or not? #UWJ201 #319

In class we have talked about Nike's BLM stances and their work with Colin Kapernick which I think is another great example of this. #UWJ201 #319

I agree that people are too often compared to others! In college it can get overwhelming seeing what everyone else has accomplished and it can feel like you've done nothing in comparison. I think that the parameters of what constitutes a "good life" expands from these 10 points. #UWJ201 #319

I think that ads that are like content would be the most effective for me, but honestly once I see that a post is sponsored or an ad, I immediately scroll. #UWJ201 #319

I think you can avoid news in terms of avoiding hard news like the economy, politics, etc and instead you can focus on entertainment and soft news which is much more accessible today. Kinda goes back to the introduction of cable news we talked about a few weeks ago. #UWJ201 #319

Playing into how the news has a narrow agenda, this causes people to think that social issues (LGBT+ rights, reproductive rights, etc) are less important since they are not covered, or they vote for someone without knowing all their views/values. #UWJ201 #319

The success of using fear to ellicit reactions from people in political advertisements makes me think that that is also why it is used in news, because people can be very driven by their emotional reactions to news. #UWJ201 #319

I agree with you completely! #UWJ201 #319

While I don't agree with the removal, hopefully it can encourage people to get news from places other than social media and realize that not everything they see on Meta platforms will be accurate. #UWJ201 #319

Trump's "very fine people on both sides" reaction to the attack in Charlottesville had lots of media coverage at a time when there was major health care reform that most people weren't paying attention to. #J201 #319
