This view was just an incredible celebration of autumn/fall

Yay for autumn

Little did I know that one minute later I was going to slip & fall into a stream

Full on dunk
Had to wring water out of my dress

Stupid autumn & leaves covering slippy tree roots

Sarah: shall I buy you a metal ring & we can make baubles wreaths
Me: sounds fun

Several hours later, much gnashing of teeth & despair....

We both had something to hang up
Even if we forgot the Christmas cakes that were baking...

Halloween - it's a great time to honour family traditions and start on the Christmas cake

With a glass of sherry to remember my Dad and Grandma who both liked a glass before their evening meal

The smell is very evocative
Tomorrow I'll be with my twin @sarahfoxspeaker.bsky.social baking & crafting

Then the art - heartening to see laser printing using biodegradable materials

The lovely Vinegar and Brown Paper tempted me to buy a vintage compass engraved with "for when you are lost"

Then delighted to be JadeSews first ever sale with her patch denim earrings

And this marquetry box ❤️

These were feathery edged and all over the tree and it's stump

Today's woodland walk had so many varieties of funghi

Including this purple one that I've never seen before (and some baby pink ones)

Nature is amazing.

Stress has hit "tidying under the sink" levels

I've too many microfibre cloths & dusters - time to donate

I've also cleaned the oven glass so you can see through without peering through oily gunk

In other news, son is on day 'alot' of school refusal & daughter failed to get up for tuition

If you're wondering how things are going - I'm at "hoovering behind the sofas" level of anxiety
October 10, 2025 at 7:29 AM
I've never seen so many fly agaric on our woodland walk - maybe 30-40 of them

This was one of the most photogenic & unspoilt groups

It's taken 13 years for my ND daughter to want to bake with me

Today she said yes
We baked red velvet cookies (without the red & lacking white choc drops)

I can't wait to try these gluten-free goodies

Time will tell if she'll ever want to bake with me again

My favourite one is the final, most poignant one

And not just those with autism, but with ADHD, early trauma, dyslexia, dyspraxia, who are different in any way

Just be nice to your classmates
After all one day they might be tech billionaires and you'll wish you'd been their friend

I've read books about autism & ADHD that contradicted each other and confused me, now I know why.

There are elements in these neurodivergent conditions that overlap & some that are in opposition:

Silence Vs stimulation
Caution Vs risk taking
Novelty Vs repetition

AuDHD makes sense at last

Today I went for a wild swim and it made all the difference

It's been a tough start to the new school year and this created valuable head space

Huge stacks of stones, created not as tourist cairns but by weather and geology, at the highest places in Cornwall, with stunning views & a superb cafe at the quaintly named Minions stole my heart on our holiday

This is Cheesewring that comes with The Hurlers (a triplet of standing stones) to boot

Watching fishes, turtles, sharks, starfish, jellyfish and more proved a good trip for me and AuDHD daughter (despite the holiday crowds)

Sealife is one of her favourite days out

I'm not sure that "I appreciate you" feels particularly effusive

What does it even mean?

It just feels weird to me

This book is fascinating, persuasive and compelling

It highlights the race to cheap disposable fashion, the tiny few who profit enormously, the massive price paid by humans & our environment & how little it improves our lives

And what we can do about it
Eye opening & life changing

I love it

And it's a wrap (of a kind).

My second book "And Trauma Made Five" is about welcoming two children into our family (to become 4) and the invisible stranger in our midst (trauma).

From "it's okay" to "bit angsty" to "what the ?*!!" & how we survived.

I can't seem to find it, but I think this would be a great alternative

I often create new succulents from a single leaf - just lay in on soil, spray occasionally and in some months you get mini plants - all these grew from a single leaf
June 23, 2025 at 4:23 PM
What's not to love?
Googly eyes on pine cones in the middle of my woodland walk
Made me smile even more
June 21, 2025 at 7:34 AM
Look at those yummy colourful stairs - they stood out on the B&W Tudor style of Chester
May 30, 2025 at 2:10 PM
That sounds a bit rough

My daughter hates cycling downhill - too fast, sensory overload and then the fear kicks in

She walks her bikes down the fun bits

Imagine being asked to work (think, learn) standing next to a booming speaker stack. Ear defenders might make it bearable (for a while), but they're not really solving the problem.

Yet this is the best most schools can offer pupils who struggle with sensory overload in schools.

This book is creating enlightening dialogue with my autistic ADHD daughter:

Me: does using your phone help you listen to me?
Her: yes
Me: I thought you were ignoring me
Her: I wasn't ignoring you
Me: This book's helping me understand you
Her: that's cool

Thank you
