In Golspie at present where I had my first ‘big break’ when the late Jim Henderson, editor of the Northern Times, took me with him to photograph the opening of the bridge across the Dornoch Firth. Jim was the heart and soul of this place. I wouldn’t be doing what I am now without his encouragement.

It’s been a special week. Two honest and tough horses, Cloudy Rose and Dereham, winning as they liked at Brighton and Newmarket. These victories, however small, mean the world to us.

Always hard to leave the Highlands but the train ride from Inverness through the Cairngorms to Edinburgh is the best in the land, if not the world, and blue sky greeted us in the capital.
