Reform: Stop hiding from press scrutiny!

Norfolk and Suffolk agree it’s time for unitary councils. Currently Suffolk has 4 district and 1 borough council. Tory-run Suffolk County council wants to swallow them whole in a gigantic unitary power grab. Here's why that's a bad idea ⤵️

How many councils for the new Norfolk and Suffolk?
In the government’s reorganisation of local government, will we be better served by two Unitary authorities in Norfolk and Suffolk, or six?

Want to know why One Suffolk (rebranded county council, a single local authority for all of Suffolk) would be the wrong choice for Suffolk residents? Here’s why:

Well said. What we need out of this reorganisation is better access to local, democratically run public services, not more marketing from a remote county council
Behind the £1.9 million PR campaign by Suffolk County Council lies a deeper question:

Do you want local services run by people who know your town?

Absolutely. When I moved house recently, I looked several houses which were empty (often for many months) and for sale, subject to probate. One of them might have met my need to move house, but none of them would have met the housing needs of the local population. jonn.substack.com/p/no-empty-h...
No, empty homes can’t solve the housing crisis
It may be a vote winner. That doesn’t make it right.

⚠️ But First Past the Post means any party can win a majority on 30% of the vote

Jane’s brother turned 60 with Down’s, dementia, diabetes – & still had to fight the system.

What happens when care no longer fits the boxes the state is built around?

Read to the end – it’s a powerful tale about wasteful bureaucracy & artificial divides
Does my vulnerable brother need health care or social care?
Down's Syndrome can exacerbate health challenges, and it's becoming clear that the current funding models aren't fit for purpose
