Remember how biased and leading the questions were in favour of the AI companies? And this was still the response.
🚨 The UK government just published a breakdown of the responses to its consultation on AI & copyright:

- 95% of respondents want AI companies to pay for their training data (made up of 88% saying strengthen copyright law, & 7% saying leave it as is)

This is a piece on how my GP practice appeared to be misuing the new online booking service by suggesting it's the only way of making appointments. (ie not through phone or walk-in)
If something similar has happened to you, I'd be interested to hear about it.

Now this is how to start a history book. A Wiltshire story teller 1890s.

Carbon emissions aside, I think what I also want to highlight here is that the scale of job losses associated with these proposals is truly shocking. Apprenticeships gone. Thousands of businesses going bust. A government truly motivated by growth simply would not do this.
In case you're not across the Budget next Wednesday, it looks like it's going to be really bad for helping Britain reduce its carbon emissions. I'll explain... 🧵

Climate change is a kitchen table issue. For most people a home is their largest investment, when climate change depresses their property values or makes their home uninsurable, it's a huge economic hit.

At the Reform press conference I asked Richard Tice about Matthew Goodwin being made the head of the party's student wing, and Goodwin's views on some minority ethnic Britons not being British.

Tice did *not* distance Reform from Goodwin or the views – feels like a significant moment.

She was a truly formidable critic, so erudite and sharp as a knife.
Wonderful and moving tribute by @timadamswrites.bsky.social to Rachel Cooke, the brilliant Observer journalist who also frequently lit up the pages of the Guardian Weekly, who has died at the age of 56.
