Dear God… Harmonien were NOT purely (or even mainly) for outdoor entertainment, neither were they just a ‘cheap orchestra’. I wish people would stop repeating these lazy myths in liner notes, programmes, and everywhere else.

He left for the US in 1881 but the family was pretty well connected so it’s possible.

Also, I love (not) that Carl Snr was referred to as Carl Jnr when his dad Heinrich was alive. 😭
