She/her/hers. Mama, public health wonk, Quaker. Nerding my way through secondary infertility. Watch more women’s sports and elect more mothers.
I am enormously relieved and exhaustedly excited to share that after two and a half bewildering, grueling years of secondary infertility, I am 21 weeks pregnant and everything is looking great.

Another beautiful September day. I believe in NYC.

It’s World IVF Day. This is two years, three rounds, and the needles aren’t remotely the hardest thing. It’s an exhausting rollercoaster of endless waiting with bursts of overwhelming logistical scrambling. But it’s also a huge gift to so many - just not a guarantee for all.

It won’t be official until Tuesday and November is going to be a disgustingly expensive shitshow but I feel like I could run* through a wall** right now. (*if it was twenty degrees cooler **maybe one of those giant sheets of paper?)

This is how we’re standing up for democracy today. My first time voting in the US! Very excited to rank Zohran number 1 for Mayor of NYC, and fill all five spots to keep Cuomo out. Feeling cautiously optimistic about the results here, and pretty heartbroken about basically everything else.

Rise up.

Cheers to my last five day week ‘til September - and the kiddo getting it together after a hard week, giving me an easy evening of solo parenting.

The W is back, bb. Today was just a blast. Of course I cried at the banner raising. Tash Cloud is a menace in the best way. If you’re not listening to Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird’s podcast, you’re missing out, they’re hilarious and Stewie is just a total sweetie. They’re coming for the repeat, y’all.

These IVF meds are kicking my ass, so I left when they announced there were three bands to go before @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social spoke, but that’s OK because I’m already pretty persuaded, and y’all, LOOK at this shirt!

Quaker Meeting for Worship in Battery Park is back for 2025 - Thursday at 6 through September. It’s such an incredibly special experience, and all are welcome, of all faiths or none.

I’ve been feeling pretty blah but I fully recognize how lucky I am to be able to just pop over to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for peak bloom 🌸

You can’t quite tell in this wildly overedited photo (you couldn’t really tell before, hence the overediting), but the Empire State Building (which my kid calls the Vampire State Building, please nobody tell him) is lit up in orange, for National Infertility Awareness Week.

Chag… [double checks calendar]… Pesach? Sameach, what is happening (two hours out of NYC)

I’m off to teach my public health grad students - and have lot of feelings about the meaning of this for them too - but it’s been a delight trying to explain this extraordinary act of service and leadership to our almost four year old.

Failed to take any pictures of my lovely friends and fam who sweetly showed up to celebrate, AKA many of the reasons why I’m so relieved and excited to finally be a citizen now, but here’s a toast to the Suffs sweater (I guess I am now legally prohibited from calling it a jumper).

The only way to celebrate

Dear The Democrats: Today I became a citizen and registered to vote (they didn’t have a table at the courthouse so ya girl marched straight over to the Board of Elections). It’s been an hour so we’re moving on from being excited to having QUITE A LOT OF QUESTIONS for you. Namely, WTF are you doing?

I absolutely adore these (discontinued) trainers and was able to get them fixed - to the point of the seam being totally invisible - by a small local business, for twelve dollars. That was a lesson for me, and so I’m sharing it with you.

Pop outside for a sec if you can, NYC friends ☀️🪻

Tonight was not my finest parenting moment by quite some stretch but this morning when he said he wanted to fly with his superhero cape to school I said sure. I’m pretty sad about losing my temper right now but we’ll try again tomorrow.
