I got the impression that money was a big factor, but he also said that he believed that the AI was producing better music than the composer could. I think this particular dude was just fully bought in on the tech, a true believer.

But I can't help but chew on the question of scope vs resources vs vision because that is the question that every game development team I've worked with has had to solve. Making art as a large team is hard. It's nice to see a film get it right so elegantly.

Makes me wonder how much of Angel's Egg came down to Oshii's vision and how much of Angel's Egg came down to scope and resources. Not to suggest that an extra few million yen would have made it a better film; what we ended up with feels fully realized and perfect as it is.
