This is how The Sun has reported on the 2025 budget. It's deeply upsetting.

There's several cuts included in the budget, while 30% of children grow up in poverty, and 33% claim in-work, but Murdoch doesn't care about any of that.

He only cares about how much profit he can get from human suffering.

This concludes my opinions on Budget Day 2025 so far.

ℹ️ One of the issues I face as a journalist, is due to the way Substack operates, as it doesn't really allow for smaller articles about these events.

🌈 I'm aiming for a fantastic reading experience on QLR. It's about a week away. I'm excited.

Well this is interesting.

I'm currently working on the website but have noticed the DWP has refused to answer my question.

This is a cop-out answer as the DWP has escaped accountability here, as who knows when these statistics will get released.

I'll repeat my question to the letter of the law.

I am very close to finishing the Queer Love Riot website, and I am looking at exploring local history, and would love to go into the archives, and talk to more local people about all the things that have happened in Wythenshawe.

Here's a sneak peak at what the website looks like now. Not much left!

⚠️ This is a Public Service Announcement

If you ever see something like this out on the streets please remove it if it safe and practical to do so.

This sticker was placed to threaten the local migrant community in Preston. I am emotionally impacted by this shit.

Hate only serves to intimidate.

I really want to support Mozilla and the open web. But @mozilla.org, you make it so incredibly difficult to do so when I am getting AI forcibly pushed on me by Firefox.

I know that I can disable this in the sidebar, but for fuck's sake, Mozilla should know better than forcing AI down our throats.

And here in Preston we see Transgender Jones making her first attempts at transition.

Nobody is going to deadname her, right?

Oh god the Christmas Markets are now here in Manchester.

Prepare yourselves for an onslaught of tourists. I'll have to review them at some point when they're not absolutely swamped. 🤣

The last few years have been disappointing so let's hope that this year they're a bit better.

It's all fucked at Manchester Piccadilly.
November 14, 2025 at 8:52 PM
Seems to be mostly delays now at Manchester Piccadilly.
November 14, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Track seems to be fucked around St Peter's.

Never have I seen a more defeated tram driver.
November 14, 2025 at 8:22 PM
The tram at Martinscroft has just gone out of service and has fucked up the Victoria line.

Ticket acceptance on local buses in place. DO NOT TRAVEL UNLESS ESSENTIAL.

when you spend five days straight inside a windowless office doing software development

Another sneak peak at the development efforts of the reading experience on the new Queer Love Riot website.

It'll be done in a few days, and will provide an infinitely better place to read than Substack!

Those already on my Substack mailing list will be automatically migrated to the new website.

Progress on the Queer Love Riot site. I think it looks pretty great.

What you also have are simple blocks of flats. In Manchester, we are obsessed with building luxury skyscrapers. Here, it's apparent for me that we build for people, not commercial interests.
November 1, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Oh look, it's Manchester's Parisian style boulevard concept, only this time it's actually been executed properly unlike the mess that's Great Ancoats.

It's clear that challenges still remain, such as this disused Wilko building. I've seen some rough sleepers tonight and I imagine buildings like this could be used to house people, after an appropriate conversion to decent standards.

The people of Preston understand the importance of fuelling up and grabbing some pierogi to take home. 🤣
November 1, 2025 at 8:00 PM
I will say though that the years of regeneration of Preston have absolutely paid off. It's beautiful to walk around in, and the atmosphere is spectacular with bars and shops open until late.

I think the Preston model could be replicated in other places. It all comes down to strong community links.

Another subway in Preston that's blocked off.

Preston is clearly taking notes from Trafford Council and its inability to keep these things maintained.

It's public infrastructure. Turn it into something useful if there's no money to maintain it.

It's 3:23am, and I'm about to record more audiobook.

Been up last night trying to figure out thumbnails in Wordpress. 🤣

Here's the site progress - there's two developers working on it.

Dear Philips Corporation,

I love your ultrawide monitor. But why the fuck is the webcam fixed to the monitor?

This has to be the silliest design decision ever.

With love, Emily.

Early sneak peek at QLR's new website!

We've got a mission. Our mission is to provide the truth to the public.

We will be transparent, honest & compassionate to everyone we encounter.

I'm very excited & this is only the beginning. This is a brand new kind of journalism the world needs right now.

Please be advised that the Manchester Metrolink is currently not running trams through the city centre due to an overhead line issue.

Piccadilly Gardens stop is closed. See TfGM's travel alert for more info.
