A 50-word story I had published called “Full Potential.” The text reads: I watched as Mom-Mom made her bed. She raised the sheet corners like four strong sails. Plumped embroidered pillowcases until the roses bloomed. Leveled her handmade quilt with an engineer’s precision. And I felt such sorrow for this woman, who’d always warned me that girls shouldn’t have too much ambition.

A tidings shawl. Pattern by Curious Handmade. The copper color is by Sewrella while the contrast colors (a mint-rust for the upper stripe and blue for the lower one) are by The Red Pansy. The pattern calls for worsted but I used DK for more drape.

Naturally dyed the cotton on the left, using cochineal. I love natural dyeing but it’s time consuming so I don’t do it as often anymore. The outer shell is canvas, and my dyed cotton will be the lining. Any other natural dyers out there?! #sewsky #quiitsky #naturaldyers

This Merchant and Mills Hattie dress has been in my WIP pile for a year. I can’t figure out the lining, so I gave up and decided to use bias binding. Love the drop waist and the plaid cotton. Chopped loads of length off the skirt and it hits just right! #garmentsewing #dressmaking
