How about phasing? I saw a proposal to lower the age for Medicare a while back. You could gradually lower the age every year and raise taxes in concert with the lowering. Also, we would need to get the private sector out of Medicare during that same phasing.

I understand your frustration, and I don't defend or claim either political party. We have a new(ish) hospital here that looks like a 'bleepin' castle. Do we need all of this polish? No. Meanwhile some people are being sent home (rushed) because there aren't enough rooms. Priorities are messed up.

It also forced a lot of independent practitioners to shutter and join hospitals. Changes/mods to HIPAA would be necessary, but AI assistants could help doctors with the paperwork and medical transcription. It would mean recording conversations that would need to be destroyed later though.

If the AI/testing flags something in urgent need. It would be on the primary physician to refer the patient to a specialist as soon as possible. Not doing so would be unethical. Then the primary care physician can opt to do a follow up concurrently with the specialist.

We would need to operate as a two tier system, at least for a while. It's terrible to say, but those who can pay for the high priced specialists will continue to do so. However, just because someone charges more, it doesn't mean they are worth it. Eventually, things will equalize.

Primary care takers are overwhelmed. Much of this is due to the fact that you need to see the primary physician multiple times before being sent to a specialist. How about having an AI assessment and testing -before- going to the primary physician? There is a business model here.

I think some people are misunderstanding. Even if the democrats aren't the majority, they still have influence. Although it didn't make the news, deals were made during the shutdown. I would add that change needs to occur in our legal system. Malpractice insurance is sky high.
