I console myself that, even if I can't use the word "clusterfuck" in an academic book, "omnishambles" serves just as well.

I would love to know if anyone has found a solid insta replacement – I’ve just found PixelFed but haven’t explored it much yet

I have updated the Academic Workload Tracker for 2025. I strongly encourage all academics to track how long you actually work, and at what tasks. It's a crucial way to counter the deliberate wage-theft of obfuscatory university workload models.

Reasons why I dont want to hear “TikTok research doesn’t matter anymore now that the app is banned.”

It is currently 35 degrees and fully snowing - an undergrad just passed me completely shirtless and in athletic shorts. For once I am 95% sure that I’m the one dressed correctly for the occasion.

This is Freckle, my 13 year old best friend who insists on participating in all of my Zoom meetings and playing an active role in all desk work.

With both #AoIR2024 and #CSCW2024 in the past few weeks, I’m glad to finally have the chance to take a little break (see: pretending my pending work doesn’t exist for at least one more day)

I had a wonderful time at #CSCW2024! I met so many inspiring researchers and reconnected with friends. I’m super thankful for the opportunity to present the poster from my collab with Dr. KB and her lab. Back to work now!

Since being at #CSCW2024, I’ve had a bunch of people ask/comment on my rings! I thought I would share here for anyone curious. These are my ring splints, which help with hypermobility in (most of) my joints. Feel free to ask me any questions or chat with me about my #accessibility tools!
