Just helped some tourists w big suitcases to cross the road. Went into nearby cafe, they were also heading there and insisted on buying me a coffee to say thank you! After a few goes I gave up protesting (no big deal etc) & accepted ☺️. Hope their flight back to China is a smooth one. 🇳🇿

Just had the pleasure of meeting Ghostcat in action on St Asaph St near Manchester St corner. Love these slices of pre-quake Ōtautahi! Dog House and Cat’s Pyjamas were my go-to for late night hot chips after one too many, back in the day. Good times. #kikorangi

Everything seems awful rn, but acts of kindness are tangible and meaningful, so give and receive them, if you can.
Been down with crushing fatigue since the weekend. Had help from a special person, the teen, and now someone very kind just delivered dinner unexpectedly and I nearly cried.

Reading for your Matariki weekend in Aotearoa.
Short | Poto: The big book of small stories | Iti te kupu, nui te kōrero.

Am trying to notice the small things too. Replenishing the nectar and bird feed station, and now watching Tauhou, finches and sparrows filling up. Perfect time to delight in the latest Pīpipi (news from Hinewai Reserve on Banks Peninsula, NZ), in classic Hugh style. 🪶🌱.

After years of thinking about it, I finally found a decent gem iron secondhand. Ginger gems remind me of after school rainy days. It’s neither now, but still! Fingers crossed🤞🏼they come out ok. Will update in ten minutes 😂.

I have opinions, but I mostly use the like button, or stay away from it all periodically. Sharing pics of (what I think are) cool things in nature is my attempt at breaking up the doomscroll. Here you go. 🙂

Regulatory Standards Bill submission duly submitted. Again, short & direct. I seem incapable of getting them in until I’m near the deadline (11.59 tonight, you still have time!) Living on the edge etc 🫣.
Anyway, here is a photo of some stunning West Coast native bush. Very very worth protecting.

Well you (and others here) have inspired me to create my own reading list for 2025, so thank you ☺️. I’m starting with these two, kindly gifted at Christmas, off said list. Quality over quantity and all that!
