There was a huge X-class solar flare yesterday on the Sun!

You can see it on the right-hand limb in these SDO images.

I find it so neat that we live next to, and can study, a star.

We take it for granted that it's "the Sun" and it's always in the sky, but there is a star and it is RIGHT THERE.

My spare copies of #hospicingmodernity have arrived! I'm starting a reading group to work through it together.

This book is an invitation to different ways of thinking, feeling, and ultimately being, in the face of the decline of how-things-have-been.
Two copies of the book Hospicing Modernity by Vanessa Machado de Oliveira are face-up, one atop another, resting on a slatted wooden bench scattered with fallen cherry blossoms and petals.
