Every day I pray these things cannot actually be happening but it's too believable either way
French authorities are taking X to court because Grok is now doing straight up holocaust denial. Gas chambers intended for disinfection, cyanide residue tiny, ‘story’ persists because of taboo against critical examination. (Full translation in alt text)

Well, it's Ashes Eve, so time for me to pretend cricket doesn't exist for a couple of months 🫣

Have I ever mentioned my mortal fear of former BBC News substitute presenter Mishal Husain? Probably not, since it's not a big issue generally.

Anyway, best get to work

Lol it's hilarious that ticket platforms are crying that forcing them to restrict ticket resale prices to force value is a bad thing because it'll drive people to the black market and they'll get ripped off! As if they weren't being ripped off already

I want to go to the anti fascist protest but they say to wear non-bright coloured clothing and that presents a problem for me

Also it actually looks like a full on counter protest so it might be a bit too heavy for inexperienced me lol

I've watched quite a few decent horror/horror adjacent movies this October, but nothing that was actually scary. Have I watched all the stuff that's going to appeal to me?

Ugh the woman I can't stand is on BBC F1 again

Great article about the moral panic around the nebulous concept of "attention spans", or supposed lack thereof, and why we might possibly be looking for distraction in a broken fucked up world
My latest for @nowthenmag.bsky.social:
Who Remembers Attention Spans?

Half of people in the UK think their attention span has shrunk. With "doomscrolling" becoming an increasing concern for policymakers, I ask: but is this even real though?

Who Remembers Attention Spans?
Why can't we focus on anything these days? Sean Morley takes a brief interlude from checking the latest death tolls to investigate our belief in the shrinking attention span.

I've never seen Bladerunner, sorry Alex Turner

(There's tons of ubiquitous things I haven't seen, and never intend to tbh lol. Though I probably will watch Bladerunner one day)
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Wow I really miss being able to see what was going on in horror movies. Or any movies for that matter. Bring back the 20th century

Bloody hell, decision paralysis is exhausting. Not only "which of these options should I choose?" but will doing this insignificant thing give me the necessary emotional satisfaction to make it worth doing at all? And if not will it be a DISASTER that I'll regret for months even if nothing goes wrong

My latest language pet peeve is people using "frequented" to mean "went" or "visited". It's only frequenting if you go there frequently! Obviously

I barely remember to look at Bluesky so I guess I missed some furore?

I'm still mad that the TV direction of the race today showed us nothing but Lando following Max for like 30 laps, while loads of stuff was going on behind them that we never got to see

Tried to go to the Barbican conservatory today but some selfish twats were having their wedding there 🙄 Honestly!

October is here and it's time for my annual horror movie month - what should I start with? I've been saving them up! I might go with The Conjuring's final instalment even though I'm pretty sure it'll suck, because the previous one did

I suppose I might give in and buy a new TV, seeing as the remote sensor on mine stopped working so I can't use the Chromecast or DVD player even if I wanted to. I've had the TV 16 years so I guess it's had a decent innings, but it's just the hassle of having to hook a new one up to my Sky box etc

Can I tell my fellow millennials that it's ok to not like stuff you liked before you were 21 anymore. Nostalgia has an unhealthy grip on my generation
