Since we launched the UK’s first-ever opt-out HIV testing pilot in 2018, the programme has now expanded to 78 emergency departments thanks to sustained government funding — reaching people who might never visit a sexual health clinic or be offered a test by their GP.

Today’s data shows steady progress in expanding HIV testing and increasing access to Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), empowering more people to protect themselves. However, if current trends continue, we still face over 2,000 new HIV diagnoses annually by 2030.
