Fun fact: In some stadiums, home plate is turned somewhat more west, e.g., my own Yankee Stadium (both old and new) has it roughly WSW. A lefty pitcher’s pitching arm will then be pointing or moving very roughly on the south side of the mound—hence the term “southpaw” for lefties.
