Fate mapping, fate transformations and gene expression lead us to incorporate elements of both prosomere AND columnar models into our new ‘tripartite hypothalamus’ model, making the hypothalamus ventral to 1. telencephalon, 2. prethalamus/paraventricular hypothalamus, and 3. ZLI 2/3
