it’s kinda crazy that cotton socks have withstood the test of time. during the cold season, socks are basically reducing thermal conductivity to the cold floor. wool works better but not as comfy. how come we don’t have a better soft and comfy sock thermal insulator material or am i just blanking?

where did we go wrong with the web? is it the standards , was it tracking , or is it just too much capitalism? maybe we need to go back to BBSs, one interesting thing about them was they generally had limited number of connections, so there couldn’t be an Amazon.

I finally figured out what LinkedIn is, basically if a Discord server’s #self-pomotion channel were turned into an app, except it’s a shitty server you don’t want to be in but work makes you do it.

so Crucial will no longer sell consumer RAM and SSDs because there's more money to be made from AI related companies? this makes me angry and sad for some reason. reminds me of the quote from glengarry glen rosss: you're here to HELP US, not FUCK US UP!

We gave out a custom eInk + WiFi device to each attendee of Goatmire Elixir. It ran Nerves of course. It was developed, from electronics to software by the fullest stack developer I know:

Gus Workman. In this talk he shares how he does hardware.

Modems. We will never stop dealing with modems.

This is one of the major headaches of IoT devices. Robust connectivity and the nuances of mobile networking. Taun has some ideas for improvements.

anyone else realise they didn’t drink nearly enough water just as they’re going to bed and proceeds to drink the daily allotment without breathing to only have to go pee just as you find the sleep that’s been evading you for hours? honestly i’m done with myself. this is like every night #adhd

Concert went great! I really enjoyed it! Here's a shot of me pre-show and one of our pieces. We sang this one together with Mélo'Men - it was super fun. It's from the anime Space Battleship Yamato, ready for takeoff! #choir

ElixirConf EU in Malaga. Anyone know the Elixir community there? I like to connect locally and maybe we can do some of those nice satellite events. But that hinges on some local company, hackerspace or similar being game to host. Feel free to reach out, I'm everywhere.

we should move to 6 day weeks. easier for meds and meetings that happen twice a week and more weekend time. having and odd and prime number for the week length is just bad planning. i propose we drop monday, nobody likes mondays. just skip it.

are you sometimes not you when you dream? last night i was some 35 year old american italian man on a large ship. i was with my several brothers and we’d joke about how weak the other is. the waters became dark and menacing, some of it splashed into the lavishly decorated common room we were at.

when learning a new piece for choir, you go from sucking to "can fake it". like if you had to perform now, people might think you actually did fine. and for slackers, this is the 80/20 #choir

when you leave a place, like a your place for a vacation or trip, do you touch the walls and thank your place for having you? i also try to make a mental snapshot, it’s probably the last time ill see it, good and bad memories.

SF what’s going on? I thought I’d do some shopping downtown SF and it’s a ghost town. It’s midday Saturday. Is the rest of the US like this? So many vacancies. Also sad to see children’s toys behind glass. Made me sad.

during lunch at the office yesterday (bay area), we had food brought it, i was the only one who didn’t take their food to their desk and continue working. y’all, it’s ok to take time and enjoy your food. also striking how this would be pretty rare and almost unacceptable in france. #slowdown

i can’t tell if i’ve lower my expectations a ton or if there’s actually not terrible croissants in the US. i’m guessing a little bit of both. admittedly, the size is all wrong. looks like it’s suffering from gas.

it’s sad when the CDC is just a bunch of politicians. they updated their #vaccines page to promote the possible link to #autism. think about how many unnecessary deaths this will lead to.

to be clear, studies have been done- they just want to scare people #asd
