As a club we’re always obsessed with a 20+ goal a season striker whereas actually we just need another (<29 years old) body to do a job up there. We’ve got the guy to give us 20+ goal contributions already in Bowen.

I really don’t think we need a quality forward. Just anyone with a bit more ability to compete than Fullkrug and Wilson, probably literally hundreds of player who fit that bill lol

Profile could even be someone like Fleming at Burnley - cost them £7m+ a loan fee

Would make a big difference to the number of shots we face if we had some way to keep the ball for a little bit!

I think a new striker is more about having some sort of method of making the ball stick at the other end of the pitch. Someone who can hold the ball, or drop in and combine or chase in behind (literally any option would be an improvement!)

I think it’s a good thing to be winning whilst not being the better team. Gives us a bit of a mental boost if nothing else. We’re also just hamstrung by the striker situation. We’d improve tenfold instantly with almost any additions up top.

Apparently Guilherme was injured which did force his hand a bit - no other wingers available and it’s not like we’ve even got a striker to pressgang into that position. Would’ve bitten your hand off for 2-2 at the start of the game.

No one else in the league is running a midfield two as physically limited as Soucek and Irving.

It’s not about the dynamic carrying, it’s about their ability to close down space and cover ground on the transitions. Leeds just breezed past our midfield yesterday because we can’t chase

We’ve really lacked mobility in the middle since Rice left, this summer we picked up players who solve that issue but instead two different managers have tried building around some of the slowest CMs in the league. Nuno’s selections in particular have been criminal.

Seems like some of them are joining now at least. Still strange for it to take time to sort out.

I’m not sure what level he would have to show in training to justify getting selected with no upside in game. It’s also about the blend of profiles in the middle as well. Soucek and Irving has to be one of the slowest/least mobile pairings we could put out - not viable in PL.

Not sure about this paragraph. Presumably the year 2000 is your cut off so you can ignore Rice? Konsa is older than Rice so you would discount him as well.

Ngumoha and Heaven have less PL appearances combined than Scarles and Ngumoha has only 1 more appearance than Potts. Our academy’s doing fine.

I think the board have briefed their unhappiness with potter through their usual channels so now he’s in the same position Lopetegui was - in charge with no backing and the sack looming.

Nuno will be in in a few weeks and we will junk everything that they tried to build post-Moyes

The FA and betting companies obviously thought the patterns were suspicious, which is fair, but given that all the independent reports disagreed it suggests a lot of confirmation bias underpinned their case.

Why would anyone not lump on an outcome they know was fixed?

There was no evidence linking Paq at all. I don’t think it’s very likely that this was a spot-fixing operation where they were sophisticated enough to leave no evidence trail but still placed bets under their own names w/ no proxies!
September 6, 2025 at 3:17 PM
There wasn’t even the latter in this case - just a bunch of people who thought they had inside information when they didn’t. Guy spending big on Lucas to get carded but slapping down £1000+ on corners in a different game doesn’t point to spot-fixing at all.

Do you need a lot of expert knowledge to know we need a keeper who doesn’t panic when they have to pass the ball?
August 8, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Doing something unfashionable at a high-level means you’re doing something different to the other teams your opponents face week in week out. Crossing also makes the most of Fullkrug and Bowen. Makes perfect sense to maximise it.

Tbf we don’t know too much about the recruitment side of things. Sometimes targets get linked because it benefits them, not us. Reckon that the Ramsdale link was more from his camp

It would be very West Ham to go from buying too many players in one summer to selling too many the next summer.

If we can sell Paqueta and Kudus then we will have a decent amount of money to spend. Personally I am most worried that there is no noise about upgrading Areola.

You’re not gonna get a better third choice CB than Mavro at our level.

Re: Kilman, I think the approach really seems to be that anyone can be sold for the right price which is how it should always have been really. Don’t think it means they’re looking to shop him around
