In short... yes.
I had a recurring dream 3 times that progressed each time. I was 9 for the first and 12 for the last. I was madly in love with a beautiful blonde woman. We were 17-19. We both came from poor families. Her mother had left or passed when she was young, and her father was abusive. We wanted to marry, but her father wouldn't allow it. We decided we were going to elope. (End dream 1) A couple years later I had the dream againb and this time we were making our escape. We were waiting at a bus stop when her father came driving down the road in his rusted orange hover truck, yelling drunkenly and brandishing a shotgun. I grabbed her hand and we ran into the jungle behind us. The trees were towering and the shrubs provided cover. We hid as he drove through the brush looking for us. We thought he'd given up and rose from our hiding place, but her father grabbed her arm and dragged her into his truck. I don't remember if he kicked me, shot at me, or both, but I ran after the truck as long as I could. (End dream 2) A couple years later, the dream played out again. In all my desperation I'd become lost in this jungle. There was no road, no tracks. I don't know how long I wandered. I knew her father would take her far away. I'd never see her again. Distraught, I stumbled into a large stone pyramid. Its dark, weathered stone was covered in moss and shrubs, the roots of trees crawling up over its edges. A giant arch at the top seemed to call to me. I walked steadily up the steps, sunlight beaming through the trees and through the arch ahead of me. When I reached the top I felt hesitant, like I was about to leave something behind... There was nothing beyond it, just more jungle, but as I stepped through the stone doorway there was a blinding flash. My perspective broke as if the light pushed me back into third person. I saw my silhouette, consumed in light, and awoke. I never did have that dream again, but once, at the other end of a hallway in school, I thought I saw her.

Well, there wasn't much exciting on my local ballot, but this is one thing I am very happy to see in early results: the anti-trans school district director candidate is getting absolutely demolished.

Halloween Highlights:

I worked all evening (lame, I know) but I was accurately gendered 3 times! Which was every time!

I held the door for a disabled man with crutches who said "thank you, beautiful" (which 100% counts).

I was accidentally blocking a man's way who said "excuse me, ma'am." /1

Such a neat collection! I don't have much variety, but I collected a bunch of bones from a cattle ranch I was doing environmental restoration at and used some of them for this Halloween costume years ago! (I still scatter the bones around the yard and walkway on Halloween)

Oooh that's cool! I have another old coworker (from the same job) and she started doing something similar and making bone jewelry, but using water maceration to clean the bones (with a little pre-cleaning help from the local vultures).

If you don't mind sharing, how are your E levels looking at trough with that dose? It seems like they would be highl elevated. UCSF recommends 4mg/wk initial and 20mg/wk max, but according to this handy-dandy simulator even your trough levels should be like... 2x what's recommended.

I'm glad I can feel like I've at least done something from my years in environmental restoration. I worked to restore riparian zones to improve water quality and salmon habitat, and worked alongside some local tribes on tribal property. I'm still using the water bottle one of the tribes gave us. 😊

You know what would be streamlined? Approving adoption of an already approved curriculum framework voted on and approved for implemention over a 9 month period by your state legislators.

He just won't say "because trannies" as his reason for veto. They don't say gerrymandering is "because blacks".

You can still opt out of sex ed for your child. The bill would simply make the already approved health education framework the standard and require implementation of curriculum which follows it.
What does the law say about parent/guardian notification and consent for instruction? Parents or guardians must be notified by the school or district at the beginning of the school year (or at the time of enrollment) about planned instruction in comprehensive sexual health and HIV prevention education and research on student health behaviors and risks. The notice must advise parents/guardians that the written and audiovisual educational materials used in the comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education course are available for inspection. The school district must also inform parents/guardians about whether the instruction will be provided by district personnel or outside consultants or guest speakers. Further, all instruction and materials from outside consultants or guest speakers must meet all tenets of the law. If instruction will be provided by outside consultants or guest speakers, the notice must include the name and organizational affiliation of the outside consultant or guest speaker and the date of the instruction. The notice must also inform parents/guardians of their right to request copies of Education Code §§ 51933, 51934, and 51938. If arrangements are made after the initial notification is sent out at the beginning of the year, districts must notify parents at least 14 days prior to the instruction via mail or another commonly used method. (EC § 51938(b).) In this notification, schools must advise parents/guardians that they have the right to excuse their child from comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education and that in order to excuse their child they must state their request in writing to the school district. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has vetoed a bill that would require an inclusive view of gender in health education courses, causing some to further question his commitment to transgender equality. Republican leaders had urged Newsom to veto Assembly Bill 86, which would have required the adoption of curriculum materials for K-8 health education in keeping with the framework the state approved for public schools in 2019. Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones said the bill promoted “controversial gender theories” and that the framework itself was controversial. “For third grade students the framework states, ‘When providing instruction on sexual and reproductive organs, teachers can introduce the concept that gender does not always match the sexual and reproductive organs described,’” Jones wrote to Newsom in a letter dated September 26. “Teaching controversial gender theories to students as young as eight or nine years old is not a practice that most Californians support, nor want to see happening in our schools.”
