turned hard against hope
terraforming barren places

I've wept an ocean of our love
been sanctified by salt water
waves of grief cauterized the wounds you left
into scars that bleach the past
like a map on my skin

I lose my world
& every word in it
obliterate the language of my love
turn my muse to ash
leave me mute and faded
bud to bloom to dust
let this barren ending
be the seed
of a story

leave scars like lightning
in your bones

strains of old songs
echo like light on still water
curious sunbeams
paint a net on the bottom of the sea
gather all my lost pieces
abandoned treasures
shine me back to myself

sky soft with darkness
lighter than what I carry
