Given my failed attempt to research on #OnePlaceWednesday due to the granddog sitting recently. I think I've found a solution, so the rest of the day will be spent researching dog licences in the UK and Ireland.

Whilst taking time to relax in Majorca. I am still fascinated by the local history. A day in Felanitx showed us a small town with a very large parish church. Santa Miquel. #OnePlaceWesnesday

I’m spending #OnePlaceWednesday having a good sort out of materials old and new. I need to create space as I gather more projects. Came across this and wondered if any one else remembers Eve McLaughlin. She was a major help to local people starting out on a FH journey back in the early 80’s

Having just returned from Liverpool. I am unashamed to personally promote this independent tour. The best three hours in a taxi that I've experienced.

Busy #OnePlaceWednesday today writing up my #Stanmore family history for a recent DNA match. Also thought i’d write up my recent Liverpool trip where of course we found a graveyard and I tried to take myself back to Gt Grandfathers trip up the Mersey 🎼 in a town where he was born

Was thrilled to find this newspaper celebrating Victoria’s diamond jubilee in June 1897. Found in an old antiquities shop for a mere £2.00 has an amazing article about London at the beginning of the Queens reign 1837.

Sorry not to join #OnePlaceWednesdyLIVE today. I’m taking a road trip around the Cotswolds today. But hoping to catch up Friday for Peter Burnhills #Born1819. But finally got to #GloucesterCathedral

Hi Dean have tried substack to add my pictures but think l failed. Apologies for so many repeated messages but l was very excited by this post.

Hi Dean fascinated to read about Thomas Paine. We came across this very blingy memorial to him whilst in Thetford last year. Along with the write up.

Have had a fabulous #OnePlaceWednesday in Dorset today. Amazing views, villages and church yards. Including where they filmed #Farfromthemadingcrowd and Cider that can prove it’s lineage

This will make me research and write a piece on the Military Medal. Just back from Cassino where Gt Uncle died and was awarded MM had he been of higher rank he would have got a MC . Bravery exactly the same but the lesser award was given to soldiers not commissioned. 😡

Rome was amazing but yesterday was what we really came to do. Pay thanks to the boys of the #RoyalWestKentRegiment &others who lost their lives in Cassino. Michael Crosby in particular a family member. A tragic story which includes much incompetence at the cost of so many #LestWeForget

Only just back from Cassino. My picture shows the rapido river today at St Angelo, not as threatening as in 1944. But gave an understanding of the need for the Bailey bridge.

Have just come back from Norwich where we paid homage to Edith Cavell for #WomensHistoryMonth. Norwich Cathedral has an exhibition of 14 paintings called The Way of the Cross. Well worth a visit. You can also follow a pilgrimage trail. Which takes you to her home village
