I’m always confused by the number of bookstores in Philly that have hours like 10-5 and only on weekdays, which guarantees that almost no one can shop there?

I do like how, between a zone 2 run and having done nothing all week, Garmin says I’m “peaking” rather than “lazy”

Front to back because I want to experience it like the author planned! With anthologies I jump around sometimes if (like w/ Best American) the organizing principle clearly has nothing to do with the stories themselves

the most stressful thing when I finished grad school was having to buy health insurance after returning to PA. Spent $500/month on a plan that didn’t even cover my core prescriptions & the pharmacist had to help me w/ coupons every time I went in. Reading the news now, I feel like I got off easy

haha i’m glad it wasn’t just me who noticed it! I should reread it, I just devoured it when it came out (and then wandered off to some other translations to see how my reading changed. Such a fun winter of avoiding writing!)

this book is so much fun and my only quibble with it is that (as I remember) Saunders is really dismissive on the question of which translation to read, which feels strange for someone otherwise so concerned with words! I’d rather he just said “i’m using the translations that are out of copyright”

oh yeah I love seeing how long these guys hang on. I did some different stuff in my garden this year and now I'm just letting the dead flowers hang out all winter because I saw two (2) wooly caterpillars on them

Really hoping something comes through for you soon! It was bad enough when I was searching 2 years ago (getting auto-rejected 10 minutes after applying for jobs I was 100% qualified for and had done very well at similar orgs) and I can’t imagine how much more draining it is right now
