I 100% agree. My beloved Moscato had emergency surgery in July, which had a 50% chance of saving him. The stress of trying to figure out how I'd pay the $13,500 surgery bill made that day so, so much worse. It took hours to figure out how we'd pay it before we could say yes, do it.

Thank you!

What is your technique for the bobbles? I recently did a project where I used a handloom to weave hexagons and then cross-stitched bobbles on to make braille characters. I crochet too though, so if this is a crochet technique I'd love to try it!

I usually don't press it either. I typically buy extra firm and freeze it right away, then I just thaw and drain it without pressing. I find the texture after it's been frozen and thawed to be better than fresh, and a lot of the liquid drains itself out when it's thawing. 🤷

Not silicone. It's a hard plastic. I bought it at Oomomo. It can be sticky sometimes, but usually if I rinse it with cold water between each onigiri it works just fine. Husband says it holds together well at least. (I only make it for him.)

I typically agree—I don't like kitchen objects that only do one thing. But the onigiri mould is tiny and we use it every week, so I'm glad to have it. I usually just use a cast iron frying pan as a tofu press though. Or I don't press it at all. 😬

This sounds great! Thank you. I will look it up to see if it has availability.

Do you happen to know if it's easy enough to commute into Coupvray and back? That's where the Louis Braille Museum is, which is the primary purpose of my visit.

Some notes: I'm disabled and walk with a cane, so ideally anywhere I stay will be ground floor or have a lift. I also have food allergies, so staying somewhere near grocery or lots of food options is ideal so I don't have a hard time eating safely. Shouldn't be a problem in these locations. Thanks!

I'll be in Coupvray Feb 16–18/19 then Paris until Feb 21 (though I'm open to staying in just one location and commuting via transit if it's easy enough to do).

I'll be in London March 1–7.

(Staying with family near Brighton between the France and London dates.)

I think I remember the first page saying "the gospel according to john" so that's probably it! I don't have a picture of that page though—I only had very limited time with it for my first visit.

I'm not super familiar with the Bible because I grew up in a non-religious household. The spine and title page tell me that it's the New English Bible John in three volumes. So I assume it's only a portion of the Bible? Judging by the amount of text, it doesn't seem like the whole Bible.

Most people haven't! I'm still exploring the full history of it, but it wasn't nearly as popular as raised type or braille. It's still technically in use but only rarely. The benefit of it is that it's easier to learn for people who lose their sight later in life and are familiar with print letters.

Thank you. ❤️ He really was the sweetest dog. He loved everybody. I miss him so much. We got two extra months with him after his emergency surgery.
