Started my day with a bit of public speaking, eek! Fortunately just chatting to my eldest's nursery class about jays, showed them a few bits from my collection and they sang me the goose song in return 🎵honk honk honk🎵

In hot weather like this, remember to keep an eye on your freelancers. Move them to a shaded spot, indoors if possible, away from ‘people’. Distract them with a computer or some unrealistic deadline. Do check on them, by email, but don’t forget to set yours to out of office in case they reply 🙏

Really feels like August has put the accelerator down and is speeding us towards autumn. Sloes provide juxtaposition in name only.

🚨 Injured bird! Advice needed!! 🚨 We've got a wood pigeon in the garden with an injured wing. Managed to get it into the dog crate in the shade with some water so it won't be picked on by the neighbourhood cats. What else can we do?

I know it's probably from a wet dog but I got excited imagining this was an otter footprint at Hockenhull Platts this morning

Closest I've ever been to a jay yesterday 😍 A pair joined our picnic with the kids at Bewilderwood. I'm sure a more lyrical description will come to me but first impression was - look at the size of 'em!

Did I hear a skylark and its chicks on Old Pale Hill yesterday morning? Did I hear swifts over our garden in Chester today?

Sleep deprivation / anaemia tinnitus / phantom crying playing havoc with my bird recognition skills but enjoying all the songs, even if I am imagining them!
