Wasn’t expecting to see my dissertation topic in the news while I’m writing the chapter where this fits.
Eliza Monroe Hay, daugher of fifth U.S. President James Monroe, died penniless in Paris in 1840.

On Thursday, her remains were reunited with her family — thanks to the work of one woman.

I first heard about this project when Brantley zoomed into a labor history grad seminar at ND. It’s so exciting to see more work on the intersection of labor and religion!
In Issue 8.1, a new research article from Allyson P. Brantley, which examines a contentious, failed unionization drive among 140 Latino cemetery workers in the Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles between 1988 and 1991, highlighting the fracturing and remaking of labor-Catholic alliances.

Anyone have any ideas about what cursive method this is? I’ve seen it in different collections. It’s always so distinctive, but it’s not one of the main ones I can fine online

Quick intro: I am a 3rd year PhD student, and I study the intersection of women & gender and religious history. My dissertation project looks at English and American women who converted to Catholicism in the long 19th. Outside of work, I’m a knitter, film photographer, and coffee shop dweller!
